How to promote your opportunity on Facebook without losing friends
One of my Facebook friends was complaining about people who have blocked her because she posts about her network marketing company on her timeline.
She is excited about her products and her company and that’s great. She should be. But there’s a way to use Facebook to promote your product or opportunity without pissing off your friends.
There are three basic steps.
First of all, your Facebook timeline is designed to connect with your friends as if you were sitting down to share a cup of coffee.
If you are at a restaurant drinking coffee with your friends, you’re going to whip out your pictures of kids and your last vacation to show them. You’re going to talk about some struggles you’re having. You’re going to be personal and share common interests with them. You’re probably not going to try to sell them something.
So how do you use Facebook effectively to promote your business? There’s a billion people out there and there must be a way to connect with people who would be interested without making your timeline look like an advertisement.[mlsp-cta campaign=”bizbuildermasteryorg” layout=”standard” align=”left”]
So here we go: How to promote your opportunity on Facebook without losing friends
Don’t use your timeline to promote your business. There are people who would argue this but I’ve found that you remain friends with a lot more people if you don’t. Instead, make a FAN PAGE for your business.
Click on the little down arrow on the upper right side of your Facebook page and you’ll get a drop-down menu. Pick “Create Page”. You’ll then get an array of types of pages. I’d pick either a “Public Figure” page or “Local Business” page. You can check with Facebook to see which would suit you best. But to brand yourself, I’d go with Public Figure. That way if you change your company, you’ll still have your audience.
Invite all your friends to “LIKE” your new page so you start to get some action on your page so Facebook will notice it. Also, run some “LIKE” ads to get people who are not your friends to like your page. Make sure you’re following Facebook policy to run your ads. You do NOT want to get your ad account shut down. I posted a previous blog post that deals with this if you want to check it out. Facebook will not run your ads if they say anything about MLM or Network Marketing. READ THE FACEBOOK POLICIES BEFORE RUNNING ANY ADS. You can get really cheap likes for under 5 cents a like if you tweak your ads. Some people are getting them for less than a penny. So have an ad budget and use it to get likes on your new page. Make sure you have daily new content on your page to keep people watching.
Click on the pull-down arrow on the upper right side of your Facebook page and click “Create ad”. Pick the option “Promote Your Page”. You can make a simple ad that might say something like, “I’ve got a new page devoted to health and wellness, come on over and like my page”. It doesn’t have to be fancy.
Once you have at least 1000 likes on your new fan page, you can begin to run engagement ads. 1000 is a magic number for Facebook. Your ads will be cheaper once you have a significant audience of at least 1000.
Again, use the pull-down arrow on the upper right side of your page to get the dropdown menu and choose “Create Ad”. There are different types of ads. You can pick the one that fits what you’re promoting. You can make a page post and promote it which is one I’ve found most effective. You can also promote a page post by clicking “boost” under the post. This is another advantage of having a fan page. You can boost your posts to get more engagement. You can’t do that with a timeline post. You can also post your blog articles and re-post interesting content. Remember that your audience wants interesting content and not just advertisements. If you’re in health and wellness, post hints and tips. Post things that will keep them coming back to your page. Don’t just make it your private spam page.
