Are Your Prospecting Meetings More Like a Revival Meeting? Hallelujah! Are you creating unreasonable expectations?
Years ago, I was first introduced to MLM in a prospecting meeting for Amway. They did the whole circles on the blackboard thing and showed how with just a few people we would soon be rolling in the dough. They had us all try some products and we all happily left with our startup kits and began trolling after prospects ourselves. We got so caught up with the fire of the presentation that we felt we could conquer the world. It was exactly like a revival meeting.
And you know, that’s not a bad thing. That’s how a person SHOULD feel after they leave a meeting or a webinar. Of course we didn’t have internet back then so it was all one-on-one prospecting and it was hard. But even though I’m no longer involved in the Amway business, there were a couple of products that I really liked and still use.
It’s good to have enthusiasm and to love your products. If you don’t, you probably shouldn’t be in the business at all. Just be careful not to create unreasonable expectations.
Of course some people are better at prospecting than other people. Fortunately, with the internet we have some really great tools.
Most MLMs have capture pages and home pages for their members. These make it really easy to share your opportunity with very little effort. You don’t even have to have a face-to-face meeting with your prospects and can sponsor people in other countries.
Adding your own videos and custom web pages is a plus and can brand you as the go-to person for your industry.
The internet has really changed things.
In fact, it was the idea that I could use the internet to build a business that got me looking at MLM again and lead me to the other ways to make money online like affiliate sales and content marketing. With my past experiences I was wary of unreasonable expectations. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

At any rate, it’s a great business to be in and is something that almost anyone can do. Things have really changed since the advent of the internet.
There are numerous tools and training available that can rocket you into a full-time lucrative profession. And using attraction marketing, you’re less like a door-t0-door missionary and more like a sales magnet. People are attracted to reasonable expectations.
I saw something this morning on YouTube that I thought you’d appreciate if you’re into MLM. It’s just a little humor. But it illustrates unreasonable expectations. I hope you enjoy this. MollyAnn Wymer, was a divorced single mom who needed some source of income and found a niche on YouTube. She has a huge following and is able to make a substantial living doing “dumb blonde” humor. This just shows how just about anyone can make a living on the internet.
