If you own a business, any business. You should have a corresponding blog.

You may be asking yourself why should I go to all that bother? I do advertising. I’ve got a great location. I have a web page. What more do I need?

First of all, let me ask you this,

  1. Do you want more business and repeat business with little more effort or cost on your part?
  2. Do you want more loyal customers who will return to make purchases?
  3. Do you care about giving your customers value?
  4. Do you want to establish your brand and authority in your niche?
  5. Do you want new customers to find you?
  6. Do you want more leverage in your advertising?
  7. Do you want to add multiple streams of income without interrupting your main focus?

Blogging guru Ray Higdon tells a story of a man who came to him asking for help to set up a blog for his generator company in Florida. The man put up a few blogs and was consistent in posting content. He watched his generator sales double.

Ray said that if he was challenged to take over any niche in his area, he would absolutely start blogging.

He said, “If you’re considering advertising, you need to understand the point of advertising. The point of advertising is not to spend less, it’s to create the ability to spend more.”

Should you just ditch paid advertising and just blog? No. Absolutely not.

Paid advertising is another source of customers and therefore revenue. It’s only problem is that once you stop paying for ads, that resource stops. Here’s where blogging can help.

Blog posts never disappear. They are always there. When people research the web for your product or service, your blog can show up on search engines and bring new customers. It’s a great way to leverage your paid advertising and your web page and social media pages.

One blog post can bring in revenue years down the road.

Studies have shown that businesses that faithfully blog at least 16-20 times a month get twice as much traffic as businesses that don’t.

You get organic repeat traffic from blog posts.

Your blog sets you up as a leader in your niche. People will look to you to solve problems and provide the services they need. You will build trust with your customers. 71% of people in a recent survey say that a blog post influenced their purchases.

A blog gives you the ability to have a call-to-action that will build your list of customers. With that list you can regularly email with offers and information that will result in more repeat sales.

In today’s business climate with competition from online merchants, it is essential to have a place on the internet, a place that will leverage you into a position of authority and trust. People buy from those they trust.
